Kobby Beta 2
Monday, May 4. 2009
Version 1.0 Beta 2 of Kobby and Libqinfinity are now available. This beta features several build system fixes, among other things, which I hope will encourage more people to test the application. Please don't hesitate to voice your opinion on the mailing list or by filing a bug report.
Aside from build system fixes, this beta uses the recently released Libinfinity 0.3 and is more stable than the previous release.
Enjoy!
P.S: I was also able to get the editor functioning in OS X (portability rocks!), but I'll save that for a later post.

Thanks for the link. I didn't have a detailed look at it yet. Still, a few notes comparing this to the current solution:
As the author says, it's hardly possible to replace the synchronization algorithm once it's implemented. So unless there is a real benefit in using it, this won't happen in infinote.
adOPTed already allows text attribution, local group undo, streaming packets from Mars, real-time updates (in contrast to synchronization only at fixed intervals) and full client/server symmetry (or in other words, the algorithm is decentral).
Differential Synchronization seems to be good in error correction, which infinote currently doesn't cover at all. It relies on the underlying transport (e.g. TCP) to do it.Add Comment
